Harley Benton for Punk-Rock?

Hey there,

I'm not familiar with that exact guitar but in general a Telecaster would suits your style very well. Bear in mind that a guitar that cheap will never really come through for you. If you gonna spend just a little more you will get a decent bang for your bucks. Take a look at these e.g.

That is a very good tele, but i don't want to spend a lot of money for it because i am primarily a bassist :)

I am all for low-priced guitars, but you can't build a decent instrument for 66 Euros. A friend of mine once had a similar guitar (a super-cheap Strat) and that thing was downright unplayable. :igitt:

thanks for the advice :)

You get what you pay for, right?
So even as a bassplayer, would you recommend a bassguitar for a price, you don't even get one single good pickup for?
So don't expect, we're telling you "it's a good bang for the buck". Because it's not.
It is more like burning your money for nothing. Let's keep it simple, screw it to the wall as as an object of decoration but don't expect to play it seriously.

Best regards,

Oliver

I know exactly what you mean... as a guitarist myself I reversly wanted to have a bass guitar a couple of years ago. I tried some cheap ones but was not satisfied at all since I knew several bassplayers, playing their Instruments myself occasionally. I decided to look around for a second hand bassguitar and found a very, very neat one for just around 100€...the installed Seymour Duncan Pickup on that guitar was eventually more worth on its own, than what i payed for the entire Bass. :great:

I recommend a second hand instrument if your budget is too tight. A guitar in the price range where the Harley Benton is located is not worth any money in my humbled opinion and you will not be happy with it for long... even if you only play once a year. The Squier I posted before on the other hand will perhaps even motivate you to pick it up from time to time because it is a complete, usable and musical instrument . You can get a used one around 100€. Still we are talking about the absolute cheapest instruments available (or at least what can be called instruments and not painted wood with strings on top^^).

Cheers M8 and welcome to the forums by the way^^

Perhaps you might want to have a look at some used Yamaha Pacificas. Solid guitars, low prices. Had one myself (Yamaha Pacifica 112VCX WH), sold it, because I am more of a Les-Paul player. Guy who bought it from me three years ago is still very happy with it.

ebay, a used one.

can you give me an advice, which is the best guitar for this style under 100€

Dude you make me/us repeat ourselves....

There is no "best guitar" for that kind of money. Everything you can get new though for below 200€ will be a very expensive piece of junk...do what u want if u are still not convinced.

Guitars in this pricerange are worth nothing unless you need some firewood!

And I wouldnt even burn such cheap guitars, the smoke might very well be toxic.
But IF I had to buy a new guitar for about a 100 bucks, I'd probably go with this one:

Seriously, you will not get any different answers unless you dont want to invest 250€+ !

Guitars in this pricerange sound like shit, well maybe that fits Punk

Sorry for my bad English, but it's late and i'm not so good in English...

In your chosen set for 148€ the guitar doesn't cost much more than the ones before. With the amp and all the other equipment theres no more rest for the guitar.
How often said up on this page you should pay at least 200 bucks for a playable guitar.

What kind of guitar are you thinking about? SG, LP, Strat or Tele?
For punkrock I would think about an SG or an LP, Strat more fits to Blues or something like that, Telecaster, I don't know why, isn't my thing...

If you want an SG and do something yourself and think about the technology of a guitar, you can chose this one here . But if you are mainly bassist I don't think that's not the right one for you.
For 245€ you can buy this one , that propably is the best one if you want a SG.

I hope you've understand the main things and I could help you a little...
Till

Dear Mr. H0rizon, I have to oppose. There is the Yamaha Pacifica, in the most simple version it costs just 219€ at Thomann. That might not be the finest guitar ever, but it's already something to work with. For what kind of music doesn't really matter at this Point, it's not perfect for a special genre, but it fits all of them a little (unlike the Harley Bentons, they're not good for any kind of music :p). For a beginner in punk it's no difference. And it's under 250€. But - feeling sorry for Till - it's not available as SG.

Dudes, it's for punk rock, even a guitar hero controller would be good enough!! Just kidding :D

Do you want to play the guitar "just for fun" or do you really want to learn it and play in a band? I play guitar, but i also own a harley benton bass. As a guitar player i would say it's o.k., but i guess that any serious bass player would throw it out of the window within a few minutes.

What I am trying to tell is that you can't expect too much. Not every guitar in this price range has the same quality. One guitar is very good, the next one is just crap - although it's the same brand / model. If this is the maximum money you want to spent for it, then you can order it and use the 30 days moneyback if you dont like it. But I think it's harder to play than a guitar for ~ 200€ and it won't stay in tune - at least not for a long time. If you really wanna learn this instrument you wish a better guitar within the first months... Do you already own a guitar amp?

Edit: sorry for my english, I think it's far from perfect :D

no. i dont own a guitar amp. thats why i want to buy a set.
