Supro baut neu Effektpedale!

MUSIKMESSE 2016: Since its return in 2014, we've seen a wealth of Supro amps come through our doors, but now the company enters the pedal market with a trio of boutique-level stompboxes: the SP1303 Boost, Supro SP1304 Fuzz and SP1305 Drive.

Delivering up to 20dB of noiseless gain boost, the Supro Boost (£159) promises to be a 'clean' preamp, and offers High Pass and Low Pass filtering via a toggle switch - a TRS port also provides expression pedal control of the volume knob, allowing the pedal to double up as a volume pedal. Neat!

The Supro Fuzz (£159) goes old-school with an NOS germanium transistor in the first stage, followed by a silicon-based gain section and, mysteriously, "a dash of Supro's 'special sauce'" to create a low-noise, high-gain fuzz box - again, expression control via TRS is available, for adjustment of the treble knob.

Finally, Supro's Drive (£169) pedal claims to recreate the circuitry of the company's amps, including an actual, adjustable output transformer - the TRS port offers real-time control of the gain knob on this one.

All three pedals are assembled in Port Jefferson, NY, USA, and feature anodized, brushed-aluminium enclosures, as well as noiseless true bypass switching and 9V battery or power supply operation.

CZ5_1zAUkAAUqkQ.jpg

Eckdaten:
  • Drei Pedale - Boost, Fuzz & Drive
  • Made in New York, U.S.A.
  • Eloxiertes, gebürstetes Metallgehäuse
  • True Bypass Switching

    Boost Pedal:
  • 20db Boost-Reserve
  • Schaltbarer High- und Lowpass Filter

    Fuzz Pedal:
  • Germanium Transistor vorne
  • Sillizium Transistor hinten

    Drive Pedal:
  • Sound der Supro-Amps
  • Eingebauter, regelbarer Ausgangstransformator

supro-pedals-650-80.jpg

img_20160331083432_84082.jpg

Ashdown sagt dazu:
It’s back for 2016...

The world's biggest music trade show, the Frankfurt Musikmesse is back on Thursday 7th April to Sunday 10th April 2016.

Musikmesse in Frankfurt is an international trade fair for the entire music industry and this year's show will see the introduction of a brand new concept by opening its doors to the public for the duration of the show.

Ashdown will have a dedicated space for trade customers in the B2B area (11.1 stand E51). We will have the friendly Kim Braun, Product Manager at Trius Music Distribution in Germany on hand to answer any questions you may have. Ashdown have recently appointed Trius as sole distributor in Germany for their flagship range of bass amplification. Trius have over two decades of experience in sales and marketing to the music industry’s German market.

As always, the Ashdown team will be on hand at the Frankfurt Musikmesse and are extremely proud to introduce their latest bass amplification offerings to the European market with the all new, freshly updated Rootmaster EVO and AAA EVO series of bass amps – all launched earlier this year at the NAMM show in California.

You can find the Ashdown and Hayden Amps stand in Hall 11.0 stand D91. Pop by and say “hi” or if you are interested in making an appointment please send us an email. We look forward to seeing you there!

Now in its second evolution is the RM-500. The 500-watt power section of the RM500 EVO has been developed to maintain a deep low end, defined mids and transient highs delivering its output into a 4-ohm load. Ashdown Rootmaster heads are the perfect choice for working bassists looking for power and features without the weight.

The Rootmaster EVO series’ pre amp now includes a passive and active input jack socket for use with high and low output instruments, this sets a clear signal path to the input control enabling you to fine tune your input level using the trademark Ashdown VU meter. With the signal at its optimal level, you then hit the rich features designed enhance your tone, such as the shape button, 5-band EQ and on-board compressor. The drive control, as always delivers a delectable valve emulated over-drive, whilst the sub harmonic controls add further fatness to your tone - both can be foot-switched via an FS 2 footswitch (sold separately).

Rootmaster EVO heads also feature an upgraded power section plus a handy mute button. What’s even cooler is when switched to mute, the trademark Ashdown Engineering VU meter changes from orange to cool blue – creating the perfect on stage mood lighting between sets.

Simple, powerful EQ
The Rootmaster EVO series’ pre amp now includes a passive and active input jack socket for use with high and low output instruments. The five- band rotary tone controls act with surgical precision to provide total control over your sound, while a shape switch instantly dials you in to a classic Ashdown tone setting, straight from the world-famous ABM.

One-knob Compression

Instantly adding warmth and body to your tone, this simple to use, great sounding compressor delivers a powerful, even sound to make sure your bass will fill out any mix.

Footswitchable variable overdrive
With footswitchable flexibility, our tube-emulated overdrive can take your core bass sound and push it into warm overdrive through to distorted filth whenever you need to add extra grind and girth to your tone.

Kick it down
Bringing extra depth and definition to your bass parts, the Sub-Harmonic Generator lets you dial in a sub-octave and kick it in via footswitch whenever you need the extra depth for those super-heavy Godzilla moments.

Totally connected
If you want to use your favourite pedals or multi-effects, you’ll find send and return sockets on the back panel, along with a DI output for direct injection into the PA mixer or recording console and a Line Input (with front panel level control) so you can jam along with a backing track in rehearsal.

Create the perfect rig
A combined Jack/Speakon socket with a minimum 4 ohm load provides flexible partnering options with a dedicated range of Rootmaster EVO cabinets. Ashdown’s 1 x 12”, 1 x 15”, 2 x 10” and 6 x 10” cabs all feature Ashdown White Line speakers for a refined tone, plus a high- frequency 3-way controllable tweeter for additional top-end bite.

banner_img_1_20160314205701_92878.png

The Ashdown Rootmaster EVO 115T unleashes 300 watts at 8 ohms of deep bass sound through its single Ashdown 15” speaker, bringing the bass to the front of the mix with comfort and standing out from the crowd with its distinctive, high quality finish, coupled with a dramatic reduction in weight.

Ashdown Rootmaster EVO cabinets are now loaded with custom NEW Ashdown White Line speakers for exceptional attack, clarity and low-end performance.

Tonally, the compact design maintains the low-end response with a more dynamic mid range. The addition of the tweeter provides extra high end and can be adjusted either to either hi, low or off with the three way tweeter switch depending on the player’s preference.

The new Rootmaster EVO cabs are made from light-weight ply to cut down on weight without risk to the signature Ashdown sound. A solid slim-line construction is paired with mindful design features such bar handles for ease of transport and easy stacking. The cabs are finished in Buffalo Tolex with a black cloth grill for a quality finish that truly stands out from the crowd.

banner_img_1_20160314220147_87048.png

The Ashdown AAA EVO 120-15T is a solid 120 watt bass amp combo with a single 15” Ashdown speaker. The 120-15T features a fully loaded array of facilities including passive and active inputs, as well as a balanced Di output and tweeter, making it a perfectly gig worthy combo.

The Ashdown AAA EVO 120-15T has the option for an extension speaker out with its own dedicated 4 Ohm min load jack socket. This can be paired with a 4 Ohm cab or two 8 Ohm cabinets for when demand strikes at larger gigs. When connecting an extension speaker it will disconnect the internal 4 Ohm speaker.

The Ashdown AAA EVO 120-15T features a re-energised foot switchable tube emulated overdrive for devastating distortion, as well as a 4 band EQ section with a sweepable mid control. The addition of a Vintage/Modern Low push button changes the character of the low end for either a deep vintage feel or a more modern punchy low end. In a similar fashion, on the high end, the Vintage/Modern Highs push button adds or takes away a high end presence.

On the rear of the combo, there is a Tweeter mute switch to reduce some of the top end and a speaker mute switch and headphone socket for silent practice. There is also a balanced DI XLR socket, an FS-1 footswitch jack socket and a Line in and an FX loop for use with either a line level device or FX processor/pedal board.

Download Ashdown’s signature ABM Pre App (available via Agile Partners Amp Kit) and switch on the incredible features that you get from the formidable ABM range including Sub Harmonics, Tube Drive, Compression and comprehensive 7 Band EQ, thus transforming the amp into a tone machine.

Most prominently, the Ashdown AAA EVO Range has been upgraded to a premium heavy-duty buffalo Tolex covering with a stylish and distinctive vintage red grill. The Ashdown AAA EVO Range maintains its build quality and durability but utilises a new lightweight ply construction that has cut down on the weight but not the tone.

Straight out of the box, B-Social delivers signature Ashdown bass tone via a powerful 75W stereo amplifier and two custom dual concentric 5” drivers, specifically designed to deliver punchy low-end in the most compact enclosure. Unlocking further tonal possibilities, the App-Tek socket allows players to access the ever-growing range of amp sim and effects apps available on Smartphones and devices, including Ashdown’s very own ABM Pre App.

Wireless
Allowing the bassist to roam at home, B-Social features wireless audio connectivity and a transmitter that lets the bass connect wirelessly to the amp for cable free jamming.

Wireless audio connectivity also enables audio streaming from any compatible music player. Adding a new social dimension to the amp, the B-Social includes a second input so the bassist can play along with another bass player or guitarist - electric or acoustic.

“It’s a simple feature - and obvious - but so often over looked by amp companies,” says Mark Gooday. “Being able to plug into a single amp with a friend or band mate makes B-Social a great tool for collaborative writing and recording.”

Recording
Recording itself is made simple via the built-in USB audio interface, compatible with all major DAWs on both PC and Mac platforms. The stereo output features a button to enable latency-free monitoring when in use with a DAW.

Connectivity
Rounding out the feature set is a Line In, Line Out and a Headphone Out for silent practice. B-Social is available in three stunning high gloss wood finishes - Natural, Black and White.

Blackstar (Halle 11.0, Stand A61) expandiert ebenfalls in Richtung Tieftöner:

Der BASS-Fly 3 (!)

Blackstar have announced a new amp to accompany the popular Fly 3 guitar amplifier, and its aimed squarely at bass players. Pressed into a similar desktop format as its guitar cousin, the Bass Fly is also available with an extension speaker option. Not available until around May this year, the new bass version of the Fly has been built to handle the low frequencies and includes the ability to run off of batteries or an external power supply, just like the original guitar version.

The whole concept is a portable, very compact and yet good-sounding practice amp which can also double up as a computer monitor speaker or music playback system. I own one of the original guitar versions and if the new bass version is anything like that one then I imagine it will be very popular. Mine lives on my desk and gets frequent use. I am very impressed with its overall sound, and it seems to last for months off of a single set of six AA batteries.

The controls for the Bass Fly are as follows: Gain, EQ Comp and Volume. There are inputs for your bass, for audio in the form of, say, an MP3 player and a headphone out socket for when you need to practise silently without annoying anyone.

This should be a popular unit if it sounds anywhere near as good as the original guitar version does. My only reservation would be that low frequencies tend to make little amps rattle, but as there are no audio demos of the unit at the time of me writing this, I cannot say for sure if this will be an issue or not. There are no official details on their site as yet though either.

Pricing: RRP GBP £49.99 For just the Bass Fly 3 or £79.99 for Bass Fly and extension speaker

Zwei Neuheiten von Digitech: Ein abgespeckter Pitch-Shifter à la Whammy und ein neues Synth-Wah.

MUSIKMESSE 2016: Unstoppable bastion of tone DigiTech has launched a pair of new pedals for Messe: the Whammy Ricochet polyphonic pitch-shifter and Dirty Robot stereo mini-synth.

Like the Drop and Luxe, the Ricochet is an offshoot of DigiTech's legendary Whammy pitch-shifter, but takes the pedal's treadle-based pitch bends and maps them onto a momentary footswitch instead.

Seven pitches are available - 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, Octave, Double Octave, and Octave+Dry - up or down, while shift and return knobs control the rate at which the pitch rises and falls - a series of trajectory LEDs provide a visual indication of pitch-shift direction and rate.
A true bypass latching footswitch mode is also available to maintain the selected pitch, and players have a choice of polyphonic Chords mode (from the Whammy DT) and glitchy Classic (from the original Whammy) tracking.

The Whammy Ricochet is available from May/June for $187.44/€175.

whammy-ricochet-650-80.jpg

Also in the offing is the Dirty Robot stereo mini-synth, a successor to the company's Synth Wah that's designed for both guitarists and bassists.

Two synth voices are available - straight envelope-style synthesis and vocal formant synthesis - controlled by seven controls, including mix, mod (which adds chorus to the synth signal), drift (adjusting between sub, octave and square waveforms) and sensitivity - start, stop and time knobs adjust the time between the sweep starting and stopping.
What's more, there's a momentary vibrato setting, which modulates the synth signal with, well, vibrato, like a mod wheel on a keyboard synth. Neat.

The Dirty Robot is available from May for $187.44/€175. Expect reviews of these fresh stompers soon.

Frankfurt Musikmesse, 31st March 2016 – Schertler Group’s latest “rising stars” are unveiled at this year’s Musikmesse. These new products incorporate some of the group’s most advanced technologies to date, as well as heralding an expansion into new market sectors.

Headlining this year is ARTHUR (Format48), a groundbreaking modular mixer that can be designed and built by the user. The mixer is created from a choice of eight different Class A input/output modules, which can be combined in virtually any order and quantity. Arthur’s innovative electronic design is notable for its absence of negative feedback (NFB) from input to output. This results in ultra-fast response and a natural attack. All circuits are built using discrete components and pure high-voltage DC-amps (without any capacitors in the signal path), offering 30dB headroom and low noise, as well as unparalleled stability, warmth and transparency. Combining the modules is a straightforward process, with the user able to change the unit sequence, or add further units at any time. ARTHUR is scheduled for release in summer 2016.

Schertler's CHARLIE is an exciting new compact electric amplifier that has been specifically developed for use with jazz guitar. The single channel, 280W amp is designed to enhance the delicate low-mid range of the instrument, which often features more prominently in a conventional jazz line-up.

When played though a standard guitar amp, those particular frequencies on the instrument can appear “muddy” with compressed harmonics. In contrast, CHARLIE is designed to offer maximum intelligibility in that range.

Equipped with a Class A preamp, an uncompromising speaker/power amp combination and traditional spring reverb, CHARLIE delivers a warm, clear sound that gives the jazz guitar its true voice in any ensemble.

JAM becomes the third member of Schertler’s “next generation” acoustic amplification series. The new 5-channel “all-rounder” combines a comprehensive feature set with the updated technology and enhanced “look” that defines all the models in this latest range.

Equipped with a 1” dome tweeter and 8” woofer, and featuring an optimized 2-way bass reflex construction, JAM offers 200W (150W + 50W) of bi-amplified power. The amplifier includes a balanced microphone (XLR) input, an unbalanced mic/instrument input and an input offering both balanced microphone and unbalanced mic/instrument options. Both instrument inputs feature a Bootstrap technology that enables the input to automatically adapt to any impedance. A separate stereo input channel will additionally accommodate devices such as a computers, MP3 or CD/DVD players. A 5th FX Return channel can also be used for inputting line level devices.

The 3 main microphone/instrument input channels include a Gain control for input sensitivity regulation and 3-band EQ, with parametric mids on input channels 1 and 3 and a switchable resonance (notch) filter (240Hz/150Hz) on channel 2. Phantom power is supplied for condenser and electrostatic microphones. Each of these channels also features an overload LED. Channel 1 is additionallyequipped with a phase reverse switch to prevent feedback, or unwanted effects between the various channels.

JAM’s Master Section controls include a new adjustable DI Out, a new Mute button, a Line Out enabling the connection of externalsystems, a digital reverb and an Insert for connecting an external dynamics processor. Connection options are further enhanced with an Aux Out (Channel 1) that also enables connection to other systems. A Low Cut filter (cutting frequencies below 180Hz) can be used with instruments that generate aggressive low frequencies. This also enables a separate subwoofer to be connected without causing any damage to the amplifier. JAM is additionally equipped with a high voltage CLASS-A preamp that has no integrated circuits and No Negative Feedback (NFB).
JAM is available in wood and anthracite versions.

UNICO, the fourth member of Schertler’s “next generation” acoustic amplifier series, is a re-engineered 5-channel version of the company’s original Unico Classic/Deluxe amps, with increased power output (250W) and a new 10” subwoofer (previously 8”). Unico features a Class A preamp with no integrated circuits or negative feedback.

Schertler's MAGNETICO AG6 pickup for acoustic guitar is the first model in a range of specially developed, affordable fretted instrument pickups that uniquely combine high-end Schertler electronics with active multiple coil technology. Benefits include a fast transient behaviour, flat frequency response and a full rich sound across the entire range of the instrument.

The compact pickup fits inside the guitar’s sound hole. It is equipped with volume control and external input (also with separate volume control) for connecting a second pickup. Sound from both pickups can be blended to create exactly the right effect for each individual performance or recording. The MAGNETICO AG6 is supplied with an internal Jack cable for fixed installation on the instrument. An external Jack cable is available separately.

BASIK is a general purpose, universal contact microphone that has a whole range of applications. Designed for use with practically any stringed, percussive or ethnic instrument, it has a precise, natural sound with no harshness or distortion. BASIK is easy to apply and can be moved between instruments, making it a cost-effective solution for semi-professional, student and multimedia projects. It’s also a useful addition to the professional sound engineer’s equipment arsenal.

The standard BASIK-SET package includes the pickup and a phantom power adapter box supplied with a 1.5V AA battery. This enables the pickup to be plugged directly into any amplifier for a no-fuss solution that’s easy to set up.

Schertler tuning keys have been designed and developed by our enginers in Switzerland, using an improved braring structure for accurate tuning up and down. The design is very "Swiss": distinctive and straightforward, like a Swiss watch, yielding highly reliable results.

The tuning keys are enhanced with fine Indian ebony.
Carefully ed materials and manufacturing excellence ensure a tuner of outstanding quality.

Supporting products include TIM and TOM, two high-performance, active analogue 2.1 amplification systems, re-engineered for professional use from SR Technology’s original Pocket Series. Each system includes a powerful active subwoofer and two passive satellites. The subs are constructed using BJT technology, which utilizes a linear power supply for excellent bass response and efficient stereo effect. TOM (formerly Pocket 2) has an increased power capability of 1000W. Sub levels on both systems can be adjusted from -7dB to +2dB. A new Mono/Stereo switch has also been added. In each system, the robustly constructed satellites are supplied directly by the sub. All satellites contain a passive crossover featuring a custom coil. For safe, easy transportation, insulated padded bags can be separately purchased for both systems. TIM and TOM will be available in wood or anthracite grey finishes.

Bringing a new pro audio focus to the line-up is Schertler’s recently released YELLOW MIC500 microphone preamp range. Available in three different models - MIC500-TL, -TO and –TT – the single channel, full Class A, 500 series preamps are specially designed for user installation in commercially available Lunchbox racks. The preamps feature intuitive controls and discrete electronics, with no Negative Feedback applied for faster attack and improved slew rate.

Ein erstes Produkte-Leak ist aufgetaucht:
Neue Interfaces von Antelope Audio (Halle 9.1., Stand D33)

Some images have emerged of three new boxes from Antelope that will be on display at next weeks Musikmesse show in Frankfurt. The feature festooned Goliath thunderbolt audio interface we’d seen before, caught hanging out on a booth at NAMM in January, but the other two are certainly new. The images appeared on the Gearslutz forum overnight and are labelled as a “Live Clock” and “Zen Tour”. These products are also teased on the Antelope website as “we have secrets to share”.

There’s no actual product information available yet but we can make some pretty safe deductions. The Live Clock is most likely a Word Clock device in the style of their 10MX Rubidium Atomic Clock – I can see a little atomic icon on the display. The Zen Tour looks like a very attractive desktop version of the Zen Studio. It appears to have headphones outputs and guitar inputs on the front edge and 4 mic preamps plus some line inputs on the back. There’s DB-25 connector for presumably another 8 in or out, S/PDIF and I’m pretty sure I can see USB and Thunderbolt ports. There are 32 lines on the LED meter display but is that ins, outs, in and out? Who can say.

No news on pricing, but for me that Zen Tour could be the audio interface I’ve been looking for – very interesting indeed.

More information should become available on: http://www.antelopeaudio.com/

Softube (Halle 9.1., Stand D23)

Spannende, musikalisch eher quietschende, Sache... :thumb_twiddle:

Summing up, it’s a gold RP-7000 limited to 1000 units. There is a small premium to pay — around £90 per deck. But it’s the only way you can get a pair of actual gold decks (not just the gold faceplate of the PLX) outside of winning DMC (preempting the obvious comments) or forking out for a rare as hen’s teeth Technics GLDs.

If you’ve got a limited edition turntable, it makes sense to get a limited edition gold cartridge right? Luckily Reloop has this covered, and with their good buddies at Ortofon they’ve released the 20 Year gold Concorde cart.

Looking at the specs, it’s an Ortofon Pro S with a gold paint job, so as the blurb says, a good all rounder. And while there’s not a shortage of gold carts from Ortofon, it might make sense to use the Reloop ones, if only from a matching set perspective.
