Ich denke, es geht ihm um ne Art naive Begeisterung - etwas mit großen Augen anschauen. Was wäre denn da der englische Ausdruck für?

blue eyes haben halt eher was mit sehnsucht zu tun...
wegen begeisterung und naiv würde ich eher zu "starry eyes" tendieren.
