    The reason.

I'm not sure what to think about this - an entire sub discussion board indeed would have been to much. And also the reason to learn a good English here... i don't think so, more likely people may get a bad grammar here and make wrong use of words that rather are not meant to be used in such a correlation.

But I have to say... somewhere inside i like this idea! :p

So let's have a little fun here and talk about things which actually not earn to talk about... *g*

One point i want to add: The correction of other user's English. Though we are off-topic here it's not necessary to pick at each mistake you find (--> first improve your own German, please :) ). Not that it would be forbidden here - but I'd like to see some conversation here and not only teacher's branding :D

    Regards, livebox

P.S. Shall we try how good our mod's english is? :D *duck'n run...*

I'm sorry, but is that an umlaut in your sentence? And what if I'm American and think 7-bit ASCII would be a great idea, because no one will need more letters than I do? ;)

Well, the last english Thread was deleted

Unfortunately, I'll have to drop English for next school year, even though I always did pretty well at least in point of grammar, speaking and vocabulary. But I'm not good in writing comments, discuss textes/politic things and so on. Furthermore I like the English language itself, but in that year I really have to work hard just to pass the year.
My teacher thinks I hate her, because I don't answer questions and I'm not concentrated, but it's just because I think the topics we are discussing (sometimes for months) are boring.
    :(

Well, they always are. The point is to overcome your boredom and take part in the discussion. That way, you won't have to learn for tests and time passes way faster that way. You have to be at her English lessons anyway. It's just your choice wether you make it wasted time or not.

In the sixth form we had to write comments all the time, until we had no opinion at all -.-.
Much fun awaits you, especially when you choose the LK I suppose...

I, as a pupil in grade 11 know that it can be really really hard to make yourself get interested in the topics we discuss at school. Our homework is always the same: Translation or writing comments. I don´t find it that hard. The only thing that´s making it hard for me to write comments is that I don´t have anything to say to that topic. I just don´t know what to write.
But this week we got the BEST HOMEWERK WE EVER GOT!!: Write an essay about "my favourite music" For usual I write about 5 sentences as homework. Right now I´m gonna start writing page number 4 :) My usually boring teacher made it to discuss an interesting topic!

I think you are right. I'm not one of those who like discussing or convincing people of the own opinion, but I will try. Although it is very difficult in the lessons of my teacher: We've been discussing only about environment for more than two month, after that it was Youth untill now. Most of the time there are always the same three girls talking untill my teacher wakes me up with a question like "give us your opinion". Great :o. And the next test will be oral oO

Of course me too! I'll choose music and french (with this combination I don't have to take English Grundkurs)

Well, that depends. I had English advanced course as well and it wasn't all that bad, despite having to read the books that were chosen by the people formulating the Zentral-Abitur. We rarely had homework to do, which I wouldn't have done anyway (I did it orally! My favourite sentence ...) and so I just sat there, drank coffee and sometimes made some clever remark which ultimately convinced my teacher he'd have to give me 14 points. I don't think I ever wrote an essay in English apart from the tests.
But I did like the books we had to read. I've read more books by the same authors since I graduaded (graduated? wth, I guess I should go back to school! :()

@ Bassistenschwein: Hehe, yeah, it was the same in my English course. Just that I was better than those girls and the teacher knew it. So I didn't have to work all that much, because they did the work, earning them their good marks and because the teacher didn't want to be unfair, he gave me the same marks even though I didn't work as much as they did.

That would work in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen!) where I went to school. I don't know wether you have to pick two languages in other states.

I´m in Lower Saxony, too. We´ve got some information meetings about "Oberstufe", but they didn´t tell us something about this "problem" .

They might do next year (or do you choose your lk in 10th grade in Lower Saxony? I think, in my case it only works because my LKs are both of the SLK (sprachlich-literarisch-künstlerisch) sector, music and french. So here in Bavaria it is a bit more complicated to drop English, as far as I know.
