70´s FANE Crescendo 12" Identifikation Hilfe. Pink Floyd. Gilmour.

Hi,

ich bin die letzten Tage in ein GEAR-Rabbithole gefallen.
und möchte mir nun einen oder zwei 70er Fane
Crescendo 12a 100w Lautsprecher holen
(bekannt von Gilmour / Pink FLoyd)

Man liest immer wieder von
Modelcode 122326 (Crescendo 12a 100w 2" voice voil 200 gauss 8 /16 Ohm)

Dann stößt man aber immer wieder
auf Lautsprecher die genauso aussehen auch den Crescendo magnetaufkleber
haben aber andere Modelcodes z.b. hier: 13269 (4 ohm)

oder hier 122315 (16ohm)

vielleicht kennt sich jemand aus!

p.s. ich kontaktiere simultan Fane und sehe ob ich sich was rausfinden lässt.

Hallo Metallsau,

Wie ist dein English? Ich kann alle Fragen beantworten, aber wenn das auf Deutsch muss, dan muss ich das Meiste übersetzen. Und das braucht Zeit.

Ich fange zuerst mal an auf deutsch:

Es gibt mehr als 30 verschiedene Modelle 70er Jahre12 Zoll Crescendo's. Das macht alles so verwirrend.
Einige sind für Orgel oder Gesang, andere für Bass. Einige haben eine Leistung von 75 Watt, andere 100 Watt. Usw.

Wenn ich gut lese, dann geht es dir nur um die 100 Watt 12A.
Die gibt es in 4 Ohm als Type Nummer 122346, als 8 Ohm Type 122326 und als 16 Ohm Type 122315.
Einen 16 Ohm122326 gibt es NICHT! Das sind ALLE Fälschungen. Diese stammen alle von (nur) einem Fälscher im Vereinigten Königreich.

Der Modelcode den du hieroben erwähnst: 13269 (4 ohm).... gibt es auch nicht. Das soll sein Type 15269.
Die erste 2 Zahlen (12 oder 15) zeigen wieviel Zoll der Lautsprecher ist: 12 oder 15. Dies ist also ein 15 Zoll Lautsprecher (15 Zoll Crescrendos haben so gut wie keinen Wert: 30 - 50 Euro)
Die dritte Zahl gibt den Durchmesser der Schwingspule an: 2 oder 3 Zoll. Erst dann beginnt die konkrete Modellnummer.

Ganz wichtig ist, dass der Lautsprecher die Original Pulsonic cone hat. Den erkennen Sie an der auf der Außenseite des Kegels in Weiss markierte Nummer. Die soll sein: entweder 010 003 oder 1021 15 oder einfach nur 15. Ohne die original cone hat der Lautsprecher keinen Wert!

first of all i´d like to thank you for your expert advise.
i mean it´s basically secrets you´re telling.
i googled like 2hours and could not find sh*t.

i did not pull the trigger on that speaker!

if i´m stumbling accross some of the beforementioned speaker
i´ll double check with your data.

only question thats left for me right now:

the 8/16 ohms are the ones with the biggest value.
how is the 4 Ohm version sounding compared to the "gilmour" ones.

( i´m owning several g12h 30w 75herz Celestions from the 70´s
t1217 blackback 16 ohms from 77. t1217 16 ohms cremeback 1975
and 4 Ohm blackbacks from 77.
and they all sound hilariously different.
the 4 ohm for instance even wired in series for 16 ohm total load
are way more open and direct than the 16 ohms.
i wonder if this applies to crescendos as well )

Glad I could be of help.

Contrary to your statement, I've not been telling you anything that could/should be regarded secrets. This used to be common knowledge, but unfortunately through time this info got lost.
This being the internet of course quite a few people claim to have knowledge when they do not.

The other side of this same coin is that some people make clever use of this lack of knowledge by spreading misinformation, hence the existence of 16 Ohms 122326.
Most of those started out as Fane Specialist Range drivers before they were re-labeled with some home-made photocopies of Crescendo labels and stickers. Add a self-made 122326 stamp and there's you newly created Fane 'Crescendo'. Another trick is to buy some cheap 15 inch Crescendos (35 euros), remove the magnet with the nice Crescendo label on it and bolt it onto a suitable Crescendo look-alike.
Have a look at ebay.com: virtually all of those originate from the same seller and they're ALL forgeries.

The 8 and 16 Ohms ones are the most expensive, simply because DG has those (yes, both) in his cabs. As you can see the asking price for those is GBP 600 / EUR 700 each.... and those are fake! I've seen them go for a lot more too: GBP 800 each for a genuine 1972 16 Ohms pair and in the USA for 900 dollars each, also real ones. They are becoming more rare by the day.
The 4 Ohms ones however sound identical to the 8 and 16 Ohms drivers. Save yourself some money there.

If you do find something that you like, please send me some pictures so that I can check for you whether they are the real deal or 'Hewitt-Specials'.
And no, please don't worry that I might snap them up from under your nose, because I have plenty.
