Hallo,

Danke!

Stephan

An accordion brand is not the answer. What will grant you the `sound'
that you desire will be the accordion construction and design
to `simulate' the Bandoneon. The Bandoneon sound is based on its size
and internal design of the reed banks. Two reed banks that are used
are the L and M.
The L is positioned vertically and the M is positioned horizontally.
So-called `handmade reeds' are a must and you definitely will need a
cassotto
(tone chamber) to amplify the Low reed line and give a
robust quality. The Middle reed line will be out of chamber to
provide that `reedy' quality.
Also, the smaller the size of the accordion used, will bring it
closer to the cavity size of a Bandoneon and to simulate the `sound.'
Naturally, this process isn't perfect but `close' to what you seek
without actually buying and learning the Bandoneon.

In the past there have been accordions constructed to mimic the
concertina based on `size' only and it did `simulate' the concertina.
Karpek Accordion Manufacturing Company (dissolved for many years)
made them.

Players of full sized accordions erroneously press the `bandoneon'
(band) register switch believing this will satisfy the request as the
two reed lines used are LM, relative to the instrument named.
However their accordion might contain a double tone chamber placing
both reed lines in the tone chamberr no tone chamber thus rendering
a reediness quality. IF---Their accordion switches are so equipped to
provide for a Lc and M, then this is the best combination to use and
closest to the true Bandoneon sound.

Good luck and I hope this helps you and others.

Definitely NOT Cassotto.. hand made reeds yes and MM you might
consider Victoria... Galliano plays Victoria accordion when he is not
playing bandoneon

I've not heard the Mengasini

Maestro,
Good to see that you're sharing your pearls of wisdom. Hope you are
well.

I like Giustozzi accordions. I'm about $1,200 dollars away from
adding a Giustozzi to the stable.
