My Desert
Jesus saw his devil after forty days,
I see you every time when I can’t sleep at night
Familiar face, familiar voice, always on replay
But you offer nothing, cackling at my sight
I’m so tired of fighting
I’m too tired to try at all
I am no longer judging
Fuck the writings on the wall
Fuck the writings...
And I would eat stones if you’d let me have them
I would jump down from the temple for release
And I would bow down to all the gods and demons
If they could actually put my troubled mind at ease
Put my troubled mind at ease (Give me peace, give me peace)
Put my troubled mind at ease (Give me peace, give me peace)
When I was a kid, I was taught magic spells
To fend you and evil sorcery off at sight
Almost scratching out my eyes to see the parallels:
Useless snake-oil in my veins and sleepless nights
And I would eat stones [...]
I will find you in the mirror
So would my mother, all the prophets and the pope
Everything that makes us human
And I tried to fight you off with blackest hope
And I would eat stones [...]
