line6 hx stomp replace switch
Replacing a faulty footswitch on a Line 6 HX Stomp requires basic soldering skills. The switches aren't standalone components; they are mechanical actuators that press against 4-pin tactile micro-switches soldered to the main circuit board. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Part Replacement Procedure
Safety First: Unplug the unit completely and back up your presets to your computer via HX Edit.
Open the Chassis: Remove the screws on the bottom panel of the HX Stomp to access the internal printed circuit board (PCB).
Locate the Switch: Identify the faulty switch on the board. The correct OEM replacement is a 6mm square, 4-pin through-hole tact switch (often listed as Line 6 Part #24-31-1105).
Desolder and Solder: Use a desoldering pump or braid to remove the solder from the faulty switch’s pins and clear the holes. Solder the new switch into place, taking care not to overheat the board.
Reassemble: Carefully put the chassis back together and test all switches before putting it back into action. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
