1) You, I'm in the rain without shoes
forgot my clock, forgot my wallet
but remembered all the colors of you
freckled skin, easy eyes
behind an airy drape of wavy hair
falling on your jacket in blue
2) You, set free reminders of youth
dance in the snow in winter kick the leaves
on windy late fall afternoons
the days are long without you
the soup is cold in the kitchen
and the bread slices dry up too soon
3) I choose, to move to Chicago with you
regrow the fruits of the blues
like in early 1962
you are the rhythm and groove
I am the melody that moves your feet
and soul when hearing the tunes
4) For you, I borrowed records and books
let's sit in here the whole winter
and just go out for chopping more wood
the old piano sounds good
I hear your voice from the bedroom
asking to bring coffee and fruits
5) Your moves hold the sweetest perfume
my breath will never know lavander
'cause it stinks compared to your room
we wear pajamas as suits
apply for jobs in the field of sleeping late
and having breakfast at two
Bridge:
I have to say
this song is truly honest darling, by the way
I hoped by now it would be okay
to ask you if you would have wanted
to stay
