Line 6 has released a new version of the ever popular POD 2. We have done this because the DSP chip that we have been using since the inception of this product is no longer in production. To continue to offer the POD 2, we have redesigned the unit with a newer DSP that allows us the same processing power in a chip that is readily available and still being produced.
In doing this, we have updated the newer unit to use the new generation of foot controllers, and we have gone to a three segment display. In addition, we are now using flash memory meaning that future updates will be done via MIDI rather than an E-Prom. These are the primary differences.
We have also gone to great lengths to maintain the same sound quality and experience with the newer model as with the past, but with a new DSP chip, there may be miniscule differences in the way the unit sounds. This is just an unavoidable reality with a new DSP, but it is something that we do not feel affects the product's performance and we wanted to be sure to continue to offer the POD.
