Ich kopiers hier nochmal, da ich (soweit ich das Epi Forum kenne)
glaube dass das bald geloescht word.
Okay..here I go.
While in Korea, I decided to buy an brand-new Epi LP Custom ( serial #I 0312505, USA-designed alnico humbuckers w/stickers still on, really nice Grover tuners, inlays everywhere, made in Korea label on the back of the neck), white finish. I got a decent deal, and took the guitar home. Everthing seemed fine. However, one day (3 weeks following purchase), after having the guitar out for a few minutes, I noticed that the neck had completely broken off at the body joint. I was furious and my manager and I went to the dealer. They said it was none of their business and accused me of dropping the guitar, telling me to contact the Epiphone Korea factory and do something about it myself. After an hour of arguing, we convinced the guy to send the guitar back and have it at least repaired, although I had already given up hope on ever using the guitar.
I got it back, and a week later, it popped off again. Screw it, I said, and gave the axe to my producer, who applied a proper amount of wood glue and had the guitar clamped for quite some time.
We decided to call the purchase a total loss, and (given that the neck doesn't pop off again) play it for one song at our final gig and then smash it to bits. And that's exactly what we did.
HERE'S where it gets bad: unlike how the thing is advertised by you folks, I was horrified to discover that IT'S NOT A FRIGGIN ALDER TOP. As far as I can tell, it looks and feels exactly like some kind of high-density CARDBOARD, and it's no wonder that the neck wanted to come off so soon initially. I would like an explanation. What kind of joke would one pull to (forget a glorious maple top) throw on some flimsy particle board and advertise it as an alder top!?!?!)
Here's a closeup of me and guitar just a few hours ago, right after smashing the thing at the gig. Notice where the cardboard on the body was ripped off with the neck:
Isn't it sick? It's hard to believe that anyone could make a guitar out of such materials.
Right before throwing it against the wall in utter disgust, just after the gig. I've got a video file of both the smash AND the throw right after the above picture was taken.
Back of headstock, revealing the S.N.
On the day that I bought it. It looked as if it had such potential!
