Hello!
Sorry in front for writing in english... I would like to ask you about teaching opportunities in Germany. I am currently on my undergraduate studies at the college (instrumental field of study). What are my possibilities then in Germany? Apart from music schools, can I teach also in "common-education" schools e.g. primary, secondary, etc.? Or do I need to possess another degree? Maybe quite weird question but also what is average salary in music school? Are there also "tabular-salaries" so the teacher´s salary grow during the years? Thanks a lot for helping me!

I took this thread to the right subforum, don't wonder ;-)

First: welcome to the Musiker-Board!

In germany you're allowed to teach an instrument, as an intrumental-teacher at privat music schools, or as a private teacher yourself.
Your salary will probably be connected to the number of students you teach, and may differ in various cities.
But it may be harder to find students, or a private music school, if you don't speak german fluently.
Salary may be around 60€ a month per a weekly 30 minutes lesson. (so 4x30min=60€). May be more, if you're really good at what you do, or less, if you need more students ;-)
That's up to you.

In common education, you need at least an educational degree, to be able to teach the school kids.
I don't exactly know, what your "instrumental field of study" is about, if there are educational aspects inherent, or not.
In germany there are two different studies for music: one focussed on the instrumental part, for example to become a member of an orchestra, and the other one focussed on teaching. The latter is called "Lehramt" and this is, what you need to teach an common schools.
There may be part-time jobs and exceptions, but I would not bank on that.

Hi!
Thank you for both moving it to correct subforum as well as for your welcome!
Well, my study consist of both instrumental classes and educational classes (so it will consists of psychology, pedagogics, didactics and so on as well as main subject - which is drums in my case). In place where I live, students of music colleges (that is yours Hochschule fur Musik) can´t teach music at common schools. You have to obtain education at faculty of education which are not at musik colleges at all. And because I would prefer to have some contract from the institution I will hopefully teach at someday I am asking what I have to fulfill. So I dont mind even teaching music as a general subject on e.g. secondary school. Also as I have recognised from little bit of research on the internet, teacher in common school earns approximately 2-3k monthly, which I would find really pleasing (at least in comparision to the salaries where I live in comparision to the living expenses)
Is it common for Musik instrument teachers in Germany to teach privately that way as you describe? Or does it happen like this under the guidance of some institution?

Of course I am aware that without fluent language skills it isn´t achievable. But I am seeing this rather as a long term goal.
