Two weeks ago I finally was able to get me a new guitar. I was looking at a Gibson Les Paul. After much research and going to Guitar Center to play various models, I decided to pull the trigger on a Les Paul Junior in Vintage Sunburst. It is the 2015 model so it has the G Force and so on. I ordered it from Sweetwater as I have ordered from them in the past and they have been great. I got the guitar two days after I placed the order with free shipping. All was well with the guitar, even the G Force worked properly. I changed the strings and put on a set of 10’s and that is where the problem began. The G string would not stay in tune and every time I tuned it, you can hear creaking and popping. Well I sent it back to Sweetwater for some work on the nut and make sure the tuners were working properly. This is what the service tech sent me back…."Found grooves in nut shelf, sanded them out and polished. The grooves are going to come back as brass is soft. The customer should know that this nut will wear over time with use. I stretched the strings out really well. I think this was the biggest issue with the tuning stability… According to Fedex, she will be back to me tomorrow.
