Mich hat das Thema die Tage noch mal beschäftigt.
Im aktuellen "PRS Guitar Book" (3. Auflage, 2007) habe ich folgenden Text zu den Modellen SC 245 und SC 250 gefunden (S. 142):
"... both use slightly chambered bodies to enhance resonance and reduce weight."
Den Customer-Support habe ich auch noch mal genervt und geschrieben:
"I got to know that in 2007 all singlecut models (except the Tremonti model) are manufactured with "tone-channels" which are intended to decrease the weight of the instruments. This has made me curious. Can you give me a little more background how this idea came up and which amount of testing there has been before you did it. I´m asking this because "Gibson-lovers" tend to claim, that this is some kind of "history repeating"

Die Antwort kam, wie gewohnt, sehr prompt:
"... When designing the tone channels for the Singlecut models we were looking for a way to enhance the resonance of the instrument as well as create a lighter guitar which can be played all night. Our decision had absolutely nothing to do with anything Gibson may or may not have done in the past ..."
Es scheint also zwei Beweggründe zu geben ...
Wie sich das Ganze in der Praxis auswirkt, werde ich wohl Ende der Woche testen können ...
Warum, wird erst mal nicht verraten.
