Aber ich relativiere sie ein wenig: Wenn der Grosse (Falls...) im Preisberiech eines Prophets spielt... verstehste, 'ne?

Wenn sie es schon "True Analog Synth Engine" nennen und an jeder Stelle betonen, wie analog es ist, wird das wohl auch so sein.

Fun Fact: Von Dorian Concept gibt es auch ein Demovideo der Mininova auf dem offiziellen Novation-Kanal.
Und wo wir schon bei Mininova sind: auch wenn man ihn bisher noch nicht gehört hat, bietet der JD-Xi auch einen Vocoder mit Hardtune-Effekt.

Was Roland da präsentiert, entwickelt sich mehr und mehr zu einem richtig brauchbaren Allrounder-Synth.

Der Typ, der ihn in dem Video oben präsentiert, ist allerdings ziemlich nervig. Zum Glück werden im Laufe der nächsten Stunden und Tage wohl auch ein paar ausführlichere Demo-Videos von sonicstate und Konsorten hochgeladen werden…

Lass' uns mal hoffen, das der gute 'Ujiie' (von Musictrack.jp) das Ding möglichst bald in die Finger kriegt!

NAMM 2015: Tom Oberheim announces Two Voice Pro analogue synth

A classic returns with various enhancements


Tom Oberheim has put his name to some classic synths, but he claims that his favourite has always been the Two Voice.

In fact, he loves it so much that he's brought it back. The Two Voice Pro is similar to the 1975 original, but comes with a few upgrades.
We're hoping to find out more soon, but the great news is that the synth is shipping now priced at $3495. More on the Tom Oberheim website, but here are the all-important specs.
Tom Oberheim Two Voice Pro features

• Mini-Sequencer is enhanced - you still generate a sequence with the knobs ( up to 16 positions ) but you can store sequences from the knobs into flash memory
• Two sequences can be played simultaneously (or play one sequence while also playing on the keyboard, like the old one)
• After sequences are stored in flash memory, you can edit them to add 2-way, 3-way or 4-way ratcheting and you can program the gate length from zero (like a rest) up to almost the complete step length
• Sequences can be chained into songs, and each step in a song can be programmed for sequence number, transpose amount and number of repeats
• Sequencer syncs to Midi Clock
• Keyboard outputs velocity and pressure
• Each module (both SEMs, Mini-Sequencer, Keyboard Control) has mini-jack patch points (56 patchpoints)
• Pitch and Modulation wheels
• Pan pots
• Headphone output
• Separate Vibrato LFO

NAMM 2015: Casio releases CZ App for iPad

Casio is getting into the heritage synth game by releasing CZ App, a new iPad synth that's inspired by the CZ-series instruments from the '80s.

Based on phase distortion synthesis, this offers 36 waveforms and is Inter-App Audio and Audiobus compatible.

Modulus heisst jetzt Modal Electronics - sonst ändert sich nix.

(Ich vermute, sie wollten Namensverwechslungen mit der Bass-Firma von Chilli Peppers Bassist Flea aus dem Weg gehen.)

Die Klangbeispiele des Modulus hauen mich schlichtweg immernoch vom Hocker! ...wenn der JDX-A das übertrumpfen kann, isser ganz offiziell auf meiner G.A.S.-Liste...

Modulus, developer of the Modulus 002 synthesizer, will be introducing the synthesizer at NAMM under a new company name, Modal Electronics.
The company says

Though the Modulus trading name dates back to when current company co-founder and director Paul Maddox made his much-admired MonoWave synthesiser in 1999, by becoming aware of the reemergence from bankruptcy of a non-related MI industry company also known as Modulus, Maddox and his fellow directors decided to create a unique brand by also using The NAMM Show 2015 as the perfect platform to announce that it will be now known as Modal Electronics going forward.

At the Winter NAMM Show, Modal Electronics will be showcasing the 002 — its inaugural instrument and also the first analogue/digital hybrid polysynth to have been designed, developed, and manufactured in the UK for four decades.

The highly-specified analogue/digital hybrid super-synth offers 12 discrete voices of polyphony. It offers a hands-on user interface, a high-quality, context-sensitive 4.3-inch screen with wide viewing angle and flexible synthesis options.
The company says, with the ‘volumes being sold so swiftly, 002 has played a significant role in proving that whoever said that the high-end hardware synthesizer market is dead is dead wrong.’

The company says it is working on a range of follow-up product launches for 2015 and beyond. By bolstering its team with the welcomed appointment of William Neen, former CEO of Foxconn Europe, to the board of directors as company CFO, it now benefits from a wealth of electronics industry and manufacturing expertise.
The Modal Electronics 002 is available to purchase for £2,995.00 GBP (plus VAT). EU pricing — correct at time of writing — is €3,795.00 EUR (plus VAT). US pricing — correct at time of writing — is $5,200.00 USD (plus local sales tax).

Wie kommst du jetzt auf Alesis? Habe ich da was übersehen? Oder meinst du Akai mit den APCs?

Ist letzten Endes immer so ne Voodoo-Frage. Kenne einige, die den Push nicht mit der Kneifzange anfassen würden, weil sie sich auf APC oder Launch-Serie eingeschossen haben.

Abgesehen davon kostet der Push auch was (nun gut, Preise kennen wir von dem Teil auch noch nicht), hab meinen ja auch nur dank Winter-Aktion, aber ganz ehrlich, das Teil ist es auch wert... wenn ich da an die neuen APC's denke, wie ich da mal fast ne 40MK2 kaputt gemacht hab durch fallen lassen im Shop... (Randnotiz: die erste Generation hätte eher meinen Fuss getötet, so war die verarbeitet...).

Abgesehen davon, man kann nie genug Controller haben. Irgendwer braucht den immer gerade. Wäre auch schön, hätte jemand ein viertes Konzept in petto, für alle, die mit dem vorhandenen noch nicht auskommen...

(PS: Ich muss zugeben, ich, der Monatelang auf's RGB-Launch spekuliert hat und sich später entnervt n Push gekauft hat, bin grad n ganz kleines bisschen pissed... Aber da das Teil a.) vermutlich noch keine Unterkategorie der Launch-Serie hinter sich herziehen wird (zumindest nicht bis Herbst) und ich b.) die Regler und das Display schon nach den drei Wochen nicht mehr missen will, behalte ich den Push natürlich und gehe - wenn überhaupt - erst später mal optional aufs LP Pro (das normale kann auch einiges und bleibt hoffentlich noch eine Weile drin). Man kann da ruhig mehrgleisig fahren, Ableton* frisst afaik bis 16 dedizierte Controller, mit Max4Live frei nach oben erweiterbar... Mieseste GAS-Bremse aller Zeiten...)

Na ja, hier mal ne Liste davon, was in Foren und auch auf der FB-Seite alles schon so gewünscht wurde: Launch Control XL mit mehr Fadern, Launch Control S mit mehr Mod auf der kleinen Fläche, Launchpad 4x4, Launchpad 8x4, Launchpad 12x12, Launchpad 16x16, Launchkey 37...) da kann man schon noch n bisschen mehr machen mit der Serie... erst recht zweigleisig mit den Pros...

Und was die Konkurrenz angeht, auf ne APC20MK2 wartet man auch noch...

da kann man schon noch n bisschen mehr machen mit der Serie... erst recht zweigleisig mit den Pros...

Würden sie sich jetzt bei Roland umsehen, und sich z.B. von der TB-8 inspiereren lassen, hätte man ein beleuchtetes Touchpad, dass - je nach gewünschter Matrix und Anordnung - frei konfigurierbar wäre.

Genau, ein neuer Prophet. Eine Mischung aus der rein-analogen Klangerzeugung eines Prophet-5 und der Effekt-Sektion sowie den Sequencer-Funktionen des Prophet 12.

Allerdings im Vergleich zum aktuellen Prophet '08 nur 6- statt 8-stimmig. Für mich persönlich ein Nachteil, der die neuen Features etwa wieder ausgleicht…

Arturia unveil AudioFuse interface

Arturia have been teasing their forthcoming audio interface since late last year, and today they've finally unveiled it in all its leather-topped glory.

AudioFuse is a relatively compact 14-in/14-out interface, offering 24-bit AD/DA conversion with a sampling rate of up to 192kHz. Despite its relatively diminutive size, the unit offers an impressive range of I/O options. On the front are a pair of main XLR/balanced jack inputs, which connect to a set of low noise DiscretePro pre-amps, along with two headphone outputs. Around the back these are joined by another pair of jack ins, a phono input, four jack outs, ADAT in/out, S/PDIF in/out, WordClock in/out and MIDI in/out. There's also a trio of USB ports, making the unit a handy hub for other USB equipped gear.

The top panel offers a variety of control features, with highlights including A/B speaker switching, a talkback function via a built-in mic, separate master and monitor mix controls and an option to engage 'soft analogue clipping'.

The whole unit is housed in a metal chassis and comes with a striking leather top case (hat?), which makes the whole thing look like a very high-end lunchbox.

AudioFuse has been designed to work with a variety of software platforms, and Arturia state that the interface can be used with iOS and Android devices, as well as Mac and PC.

AudioFuse is due to arrive during spring 2015, priced at a RRP of €549/$599. Head Arturia for more details.

...also lasst uns erstmal die Treiberstabilität und Latenzwerte abwarten, aber zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt würde ich sagen, hat beispielsweise RME bestimmt nichts zu fürchten!

Lasst euch das nochmal auf der Zunge zergehen: Sequential Circuits ist quasi auferstanden!!!


Man hat nun ein Portfolio von monophonen, duophonen, vierstimmigen, sechsstimmigen, achtstimmigen und zwölfstimmigen Analogen - in allen möglichen Varianten, Tastaturgrössen, Modulen - plus dem hybriden Evolver und modularen Eurorack-Modulen.

[Ich gehe jetzt nicht davon aus, der Pro-6 verdrängt den Pro-8]


Dieser Augenschmeichler (auch wenn's nur ein verkappter Ritt auf der Retro-Welle ist) ist ein bisheriges NAMM-Highlight.
